Hello My New 'Do!

Today was a major hair change kind of day. Nothing too major as I'm saving any big change for my cousin's wedding in August. I needed a new haircut i.e. re-layer the layers I already have. I also decided to get a whole new solid color for my hair. I believe I tweeted or posted a while back when I got highlights last year. Well, it grew out and my hair and layers also grew so I decided that at some point I will just color my hair one solid color and add highlights later.
Last week, I received my catalog from Ulta and there's a special offer from the salon:
  • Haircut
  • Style
  • Color (one solid color, no highlights)

All three for $50. I thought, Score! What a great deal.

I wanted to re-layer my hair yet still keeping it long with short layers around my face. I love getting layers for my hair because the style adds volume to my thin hair. As for hair color, I opted for Medium brown (5N according to Ulta's swatch). I didn't want too dark or too light of a brown. The shade I have is perfect.

And voila!

I love how my hair feels when I get it done. There's no frizz and it looks so smooth. I'm almost afraid to lie on my head tonight! LOL

Anyway, I love how my hair turned out...

Clothing Haul: Jason Wu for Target

Just a quick post today about some clothes I bought at Target recently.

Target partnered up with designer Jason Wu to create clothes for Target. Price are not bad either. I think the most expensive are the dresses can run up to $50... Accessories were also sold with this collaboration. The only items I saw left was a color block style black/cream handbag for $49.99.

The funny thing with this collection was that I went in to Target the day after it was released (Feb 6th) and I seriously could not find any Jason Wu items anywhere. There were no posters, signage/signs that point people where the collection might be. It was a total waste of ten minutes walking around the clothing section of the store looking for clothes that weren't there. I think Target (all three that I went to), could have done a better job marketing this collaboration. I would like to see signs and pictures of the designer being featured somewhere in the store.
Okay, enough rant!

Anyway, last week I went to Target again and this is what I scored...Not bad after waiting almost two weeks. Of course, there wasn't much to select from but I ended up with cute items that I can wear to work.

Love this blush pink blouse with white polka dots and cream tie with pink polka dots...Perfect for a work outfit. Great under a blazer or cardigan. Definitely adds femininity to any outfit.

I found these two blouses that can be worn with a blazer or cardigan on top. It's a little too square/box-like shape for me but I think I can make it work. I do like the pleated detail down the center.

Love this top because you can wear it casual or dressed depending on the rest of your outfit. This knit blush top with the black tie I can see myself wearing with a work pants and either a cardigan or blazer on top. Really love the tie accent.

A nice casual gray T-shirt with lace detailing down the center

My other favorite. This cream knit top with black and white tie collar and circular detail is so cute.
Best of all these tops are quite comfortable.
Price-wise these tops range from $22-$34 USD

I can't wait to wear these. Maybe I'll post an outfit of the day.

What did you pick up from the Jason Wu for Target collection?

Till next time,
Lynn

Via Spiga Kitten Heels

This last week or so I've been suffering from a cold and cough. So, last week I pretty much didn't go to work.  I slept a lot trying to get better so I can get back on my feet again. And while I was at home, Mr UPS rang my doorbell one day and handed me a huge box from Hautelook. My drug induced brain was foggy at first trying to remember what it was I ordered at Hautelook that seem to get to me rather fast - for a change. If you don't know what Hautelook is, it is an online website where designer fashion (for women, kids + men) are on sale for a discounted price. The site also sells beauty items, accessories, home decor & travel deals. Why I was so confused at first is because 1.) I ordered a few things from Hautelook in a week's time and 2.) Hautelook shipments, length of time items gets to you, well...sucks! Imagine my surprise when i received this box so soon.
When I opened the box, this is what I found inside:

I almost forgot about this shoe. Isn't it gorgeous?  Perfect for Spring! I love this black sandal. It has a woven pattern at the front and is the perfect heel height as well. I love kitten heels. It can be worn with any outfit, dressed up or down. I imagine this shoe worn with a capri pant whether it's jeans or a dressier pant. And it can be worn with a skirt as well.

I can't wait for the weather to get warm and I can't wait to get a pedicure so I can wear these shoes:)

Happy Sunday!

January Favorites: Makeup, Skincare, Perfume & Shoes...Oh my!!!!

Feeling under the weather today so bear with me and I'll try to go through my favorites as fast as I can.
Here goes....
I'm quite proud of my January favorites because the items are few and are the ones I used almost every single day. The following products that I have been using are kept to a minimum yet simple makeup routine. I have been trying a lot of drugstore products this past month and below are the items I used and what I think of them.

First, eyes. This past month I have been keeping the eye makeup to a minimum yet simple routine. I have been loving the Revlon Color Stay Quad in #500 Addictive. Very wearable neutral shades.
I have been also loving the new L'oreal Infallible eyeshadow in #890 Amber Rush. I would apply Amber Rush all over the lid and it gives a nice pop of color to the lid. Perfect to wear by itself as well. To keep the eyelid colors in place, I put Nubile paint pot first all over the lid.

I have also been loving Revlon Colorstay Gel Liner in #002 Brun. The applicator it came with works quite well. This has great staying power. It last on me for a good 8 hour. The Revlon gel liners also comes in two other shades: Black and Plum.

What I have been truly loving this month is the Tarte Amazonian clay long-wear blush in Amused. I know the color looks scary bright. But on my very tan skin, the blush gives my cheeks a nice bright pop of color. Love!

I absolutely been loving the Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream in Medium/Deep. This has been a dream to use. I have been wanting to try B.B creams for the longest time except I could never find the right shade. I'm way tan and most, if not all B.B. creams are very light. I'm very glad I found this and in the perfect shade as well. I have been using this the entire month of January and will continue to do so until I run out. And then purchase another one too!

So....brushes. I have been the above 3. The stippling brush from Crown brush: C406 Lg Duo Face, Eco tools all over face powder brush and Sigma Angled Top Kabuki - F84.  The Crown brush I use to apply the Tarte Amazonian clay blush, the Eco tools brush  to apply the bottom product I'm about to show & the Sigma brush to apply the B.B. cream.

Next, after applying the B.B. cream, I dust Laura Mercier Transluscent setting powder. It pulls the whole look together and keep the B.B. cream nicely in place.

Oh, I have been really loving the Pangea Organics Facial Cleanser in Australian Wild Plum & Willow. I got this sample cleanser in my Birchbox a while back but have never given it a try until now. Surprise, Surprise! Me Loves! I am actually out of this so I'm making a full size purchase on Amazon later on. I thought I could get this at Whole Food Market but I didn't find it there either:( Anyway, I believe this particular formula is meant for someone with Combination/Oily skin. I have very oily skin and this one works pretty well for me.

Being that it's winter, I have been experiencing dry, chapped lips. These ones from Burt Bees work fine. It's awesome or anything but both are very nourishing for my dry lips.

One other thing that's been plaguing me this past month is itchy. I take it to be an winter itch - so I've loaded myself with anti-itch products. What has been working wonderfully is this Eucerin duo: Calming Body Wash followed by the Calming Itch-Relief treatment. So far it's working. Just recently at Walgreens, it's buy 1 get 1 50% off. Of course I stocked up!

And yes! I finally found the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess 2 summer's ago collection??? I think? Finally, bought myself a bottle when I went to outlets CCO or Cosmetics Company Outlet. I bought this for $41.25...versus the original retail price of $55 USD. I love this scent. Will save for another blog post review.

And one last thing...my favorite purple suede loafer that I also got at the outlets. I bought this at the Naturalizer store. Really love this...great for everyday to dress down or dress up at an outfit.

So, that's all my favorites. What have you been loving this month?

xoxo,
Lynn

My January Birchbox...

Hello February!!! So, just want to update...I got my computer up and running again so now I am able to blog. With pictures!

I want to start with what I got in my January Birchbox...In the last few months, I have to say that I was beginning to not be impressed with what I was receiving in my monthly Birchbox. At one point, I did consider cancelling my monthly subscription. On top of that, I was reading other blogs that were also not too happy with their Birchbox...But I didn't want to give up yet so I decided to just continue with my subscription till the one year anniversary - which is coming up around April. And then we'll see...

Off to what's in my Birchbox...

VMV Hypoallergenics  - RE-Everything: Face-Hand-Body Lotion
This seems to be an all around type product. I'm not sure if I will be using this on my face but I will definitely try it on my Hands and Body. Will let you know what I think.
Origins Checks and Balances....
I believe this particular face wash is meant for someone with Combination/Oily skin. I'm sure this is a fine cleanser but I won't be using it because it's not suitable for my skin type. That will be given away then.

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Peacock
I've always wanted to try Stila's eye liners since I've heard great reviews about them. This is a nice teal color - perfect for the coming Spring/Summer to brighten up an eye look.

Larabar Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

I haven't tried the Larabar yet. I have seen this brand in Whole Foods Market before so I know it's available somewhere and comes with other flavors.

All in all, I actually do like what I got in my box this month (or last month). I hope it continues to be better and I might just keep my subscription past the one year mark...

Have you tried any of the products in the Birchbox? Are you subscribed to Birchbox?

xoxo,
Lynn
