Revlon ColorStay Eyeshadow Quad in Addictive #500, Swatch & Review

Lately, I've been reaching for this eyeshadow quad from Revlon whenever I would do my eye makeup. It has become a staple and something that I'm wearing again almost everyday. This is the Revlon Colorstay eyeshadow quad in Addictive #500. It's a very nice and simple neutral quad that is perfect for everyday. This is one of the many eyeshadow quads that Revlon released last year. I did pick up a few but I find myself using this eyeshadow a lot more lately. I did already feature this quad in a January favorites post here

This is what the colors look like in natural light

The colors are very neutral but provide a good color payoff. The upper left is more of a peachy beige, upper right: a light taupe, bottom left: medium taupe and bottom right: a matte dark brown. There are no shimmers at all in this palette. All the colors are matte.

What I've been doing lately is mixing the light and medium taupe and applying the colors across the lid. Then I apply the peachy beige as highlight on the inner corners on the eye as well as underneath the brow bone. To give my eyes more definition and a smokier effect, I add the dark brown on the outer V of  the eye and blending a bit above the crease. I then use a blending brush and I blend the colors together for a smooth finish.

Like I said this has been a go-to quad lately. I use it everyday when I don't want to fuss searching for colors to wear that day. I slap it on and go.

I bought this quad a while back at Rite Aid. It retailed for $6.99 at the time. You can find this eyeshadow quad everywhere now- just check your local drugstore and Target.

New Products I'm Trying

Lately, I've been hauling a few new products. I'm excited about these. I will share a little bit of what I think of them. A full review of each product is to come.

1. Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation with SPF10
I've wanting to try liquid foundation again since I've been using my beloved Bare Minerals foundation. I've been hearing great things about Chanel foundation so I wanted to give it a go. I finally bit the bullet and bought one. Still testing it though but so far I am loving it.

2.Laura Mercier nail polish in Cabana
Laura Mercier is one of those brands that I wanted to try also. Their spring collection really attracted so I checked it out. I was surprised to see a nail polish as one of their collection pieces. For Spring 2012, there were 5 nail polish that were released. I bought 4 of the 5. One of my favorites is Cabana (see below). I have actually worn Cabana once. It is gorgeous. I will do a full review of this as well.

3. Shiseido Majolica Majorca Mascara Lash Expander Frame Plus in Black
I'm super excited about this mascara. I have been watching a few YouTube videos where this particular mascara was talked about. My parents actually bought me 2 of these when they went overseas for vacation. I really love this. The formula works really well with my stick straight lashes.

4. Lancome Rouge In Love Lipsticks
One of my best purchase so far. I normally would not purchase a lipstick this expensive ($25) but the formula and texture is so worth the price. I actually bought 2 more after these first 2 purchase. I think I'm done for a while with these. I will certainly dedicate a blog post on the lipsticks as well as the nail vernis I bought too!

5. China Glaze Hunger Games Collection
So much hype is surrounded with the Hunger Games movie that there's an entire nail polish collection made just for it. I bought 4 colors. Each of them are unique and pretty.
From left to right: Harvest Moon, Fast Track, Smoke and Ashes and Riveting.

6. Dior Nail Vernis
I wrote a blog post on my recent purchase of Dior's Spring 2012 collection using Waterlily #504.
I was so in love with the polish that I bought 2 more. Currently, I am wearing the one on the left (Saint Tropez # 401). On the right in Incognito # 257. A review of Saint Tropez will be coming up next week.

6. Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess
This one was a 2010 Summer Limited Edition release. I got on the bandwagon late on this one. It was sold out everywhere by the time I wanted to buy it. I finally found one at a CCO and I grabbed it. I really like the smell of this- very coconutty summer!

7. Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess in Capri
Yes, I bought another one. Bronze Goddess in Capri is the Summer 2012 Limited Edition release. I so fell in love with the scent. It is so me. I will save my full thoughts on the product for a more thorough review. I bought this when Macy's was having a gift with purchase special and this was the last one left. Meant to be!

So, just wanted to give you guys a heads up of the products I've been trying out. A full review will be forthcoming. The nails will sure be up first. Most likely a Chanel foundation review will be around Mid-April.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Life Update + NOTD Dior Vernis is Waterlily # 504

So, long time no blogging!

Yes, I have been, sadly, neglecting my blog lately. The busy-ness of life snuck itself in early in March and has stayed. Until now. I miss blogging! I have so much to share, pictures to post and reviews to show products I've been loving the past couple of months. I'm not going to make any promises....but...I hope to blog almost everyday until the end of March (which is next week). Ha! We'll see. Work has pretty much kept me busy the last 3 weeks with working late some nights and just crashing home to sleep (and repeating the same cycle the next day). Weekends are spent sleeping in and time with family and friends. And shopping! Lots of shopping! I don't want to bore you anymore because I have an exciting post below! Here we go....

Lately, I have been wearing the new Dior nail vernis in Waterlily #504. The nail polish is part of Dior's Spring 2012 Garden Party Collection. There are two nail polish from the Garden Party Collection: Forget-Me-Not (purple) and Waterlily.

I chose Waterlily because I wanted to try something outside of my comfort color zone. Normally, I would pick a purple but I wanted to try a green for a change. Plus, it was Saint Patrick's Day that weekend so I went for the green.

This is my first Dior nail polish. So far I am very impressed. Waterlily is a gorgeous green shade. The texture is smooth, glossy and jelly-like. I love anything glossy and satin on the nail. This nail color is just that. Just beautiful! The brush has a slight taper towards the tip and contours to the shape of your nail. I have a very small and narrow, baby-like finger nails and the brush works perfectly well for that. I used two and half coats on my nails and I applied a top coat for that extra glossy finish. Also, I did not know this until I applied the nail polish: it's scented! The scent is more of a floral rose scent. The scent will stay with you for a while- at least 5 days. I've worn the nail polish for 8 days now so the staying power is great.

Below are some picture to show you how pretty Waterlily is.

P.S. Excuse the bad nail job...was in a quick hurry to slap this on AND it was late at night!

Dior polishes retail for $23. It can purchased wherever Dior is sold. I bought mine at Nordstrom.

Like I said, I'm very impressed with Dior's polishes that I actually purchased 2 more. I bought one from the Color Block collection (with matching lipstick) and another which is a limited edition collection from last summer (so popular that Dior brought it back). The limited edition one is what I'll be wearing today. Stay tuned for a blog post next week!

What nail colors are you loving at the moment?
