Hey All,
Today was a very fun and productive day. My BFF of 25 years is getting married in 52 days- yes, that exact. I'm very excited. I've been waiting for this day to come since we were little. And now it's here. Of course, I am a Maid of Honor. I'm honored to be beside her on one of the most important day of her life.
If you've ever been in a wedding, you know that the fun and exciting activities are just around the corner before the big day. One of which is the upcoming Bridal Shower. Next up: Bachelorette Spa Day, Wedding Rehearsal, and then the Wedding.
Every bride knows that on your wedding day you want to feel and look extra special. So, one upgrades their usual look (makeup, hair) on their big day. And it's not just for the brides, but their bridesmaids too.
Today my BFF made a appointment at our favorite makeup and beauty brand: Bare Escentuals. We are having them do our makeup for the wedding. I wanted a more natural, smoky look. My dress for the wedding a Royal Chiffon Blue- very pretty! I'll try to post pictures of my dress once I get it back from being altered.
Anyway, on to today. We both came in Bare Escentuals to do a trial run on the makeup we're going to wear to the wedding. Unlike my BFF, I usually were a decent amount of makeup everyday. Her look was more on the natural but defined side. I went for a subtle smoky look.
At the end of the hour, we look totally gorgeous:) Even though I wear a lot of makeup, the eye look tends to be more on the neutral side of smoky. It took a while to get used to the dark color on my lids and crease- I had to blend a bit more just to get the color to soften a bit.
However, I LOVE LOVE my face and eye makeup. The 2 makeup artists that helped us were awesome. They really achieve the look we were looking for.
Here's the 411 if you would like to come in to a boutique for makeup on you big day:
In case you didn't know, Bare Escentuals does bridal makeup. You need to make an appointment as early as you can if this is a trial run. The MUA will ask you basic questions, such as: skin type, skincare regimen, how you like your makeup (neutral or heavy), and whether or not you've used their products. It helps them become familiar with your preference. What is also helpful during your trial run is to express what kind of look you are looking for. Having an idea is better than going in there blind. Bring in a photo of a look that you saw in a magazine and let your MUA know your likes/dislikes/concern. Don't be afraid to ask questions. More importantly, don't be intimidated by MUA's. I mean they want you to book them and use their products but they shouldn't be shoving that in your face. Even more important, whether you're going with a group of friends or family, have a GREAT time!!!! One more important advice: be flexible and keep an open mind. Have fun with this:)
I have pictures below. I hope you enjoy. I will try to re-create this look later on since I don't have any of the makeup used on me today.
xoxo, Lynn
