Nail of the Day: Sephora by OPI: What's your Point-settia?

Although this nail polish is a recent purchase, it is fast becoming one of my holiday favorites. What's Your Point-settia is part of Sephora's OPI Holiday Gem Collection. The collection includes 7 new colors for the holiday and ranges in different textures from metallic to glitter. This shade is right up my alley as bright shiny colors are my faves. I would say that What's Your Point-settia is more like a pink, red & burgundy shade with a hint of pink-gold shimmer. It certainly is a festive shade and perfect for the Christmas and New Year's party that is just around the corner. Top the color with a topcoat like Seche Vite and your nails will be shiny gleamy and will help your nail color last longer.

If you haven't done so, check our the OPI Holiday Gem Collection at a Sephora near you!

What's your favorite shade to wear for the Holidays?

P.S. Excuse the sloppy paint job- I was in a rush:)

Happy Holidays!

Review: NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

This past week, I have finally used up my first tube of NARS' Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base primer. I have had my first tube for at least 2 months now...Believe me when I say that I have scraped the very bottom of the tube (with a nail cuticle stick).

I was very skeptical of trying new eye primers that claim all sorts of things: smudge-proof, waterproof, will not budge, will not crease, etc. However, when I read reviews of this on Sephora and watched rave reviews of it on YouTube, I decided to take the bullet and purchase it. I was also very hesitant to try this because of its hefty price tag (it retails for $24). The very first time I used the eye primer, it happened to be a very particularly hot day where I live. On top of that, I decided to take a long walk during my lunch break at work. I have to say that it was so hot and I felt like my face was boiling and I thought that the primer mostly likely have washed off my lids already. I go to the bathroom and take a look at my eyes and to my surprise, my eyeshadow was intact and matte looking just as I had applied it earlier that morning. Since then I am sold!!!! It's very rare that I find a product that I really like and one that works as well.

I absolutely love this primer. I even just use it on its own without any shadow. It keeps my lids matte and most importantly, it really does keep your shadow in place. It does not smudge or rub off even when it's super hot. It applies smooth- and even if the color is white, it dries clear on the lid. Just apply 2 small dots with the sponge applicator, one over the lid and on the crease. Light application is key.

I must also add that I'm very picky with primers in general (eye or face) because I have very oily skin (lid included) and not every product lives up to what it claims. I am very happy with this purchase that I have gotten myself a second tube. If you haven't tried NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base, I highly recommend it.

I purchased mine at Sephora but you can also find NARS products are the following locations:

www.sephora.com
www.nordstrom.com
www.bloomingdales.com

Or wherever NARS products are sold.

Hope you enjoy this review!

Nail of the Day: Chanel 491 Rose Confidentiel

I admit that I have been loving Chanel Nail Lacquers lately. At first I could not get my mind to even try to purchase a nail polish that expensive. Yet, I gave Chanel a try and I've been hooked since (Thank You Paradoxal). I love the quality and the color range. It is expensive. It retails for $23. If it's a limited edition item, sometimes it retails for $27. I will not stop purchasing these nail polishes any time soon. Off to the color below...

I have been looking for that perfect shade of pink. It looks like I have found it! I was cruising the local Chanel counter and spotted this particular shade: Rose Confidentiel. I really love this shade. It's not pale or too dark. It's the right shade in between. It applies opaque so 2 coats will do. I think it's a great shade to wear anywhere, even the office.

I purchased mine at Nordstrom because they had a new shipment that came in. If you can still find it, I highly suggest trying out this color.

How the color looks in the bottle is how it looks on my fingers:)

So, so pretty!

Where Have I Been?

First off, I would like to say that I'm very sorry that I have not posted to my blog and posted videos on my YouTube channel. It has been such a hectic and extremely busy work schedule that I have not had the energy to sit down and write or record a video. On top of that, throughout the month of October, I have had eye infections on and off every week- it seems:( So, I looked awful and felt tired all the time that the last thing I want to do is write or look dead while making a video.
10-12 hour work days= not good:( During this Thanksgiving Holiday weekend, I took the time to really rest and believe me it's been very good for my mind and body:) I hope you all understand. Another major set back of why I have not been posting is that my computer was attacked by a very very bad virus. The virus almost completely destroyed my system. But, all is good now and my computer is functioning as if it's brand new again! YAY!!!

With that said, although I have not been posting on my blog or making videos does not mean I have not been SHOPPING!!!! I love the ability to escape, even in the middle of a work day, to shop online. I can't make it to the store physically, but I can be there virtually:)

I have bought a lot of stuff that I want to share with you my thoughts about them....

I definitely LOVE the holidays to shop for all kinds of stuff: makeup, clothes, shoes...whatever a girl hearts desires!

So, expect a lot of posting to come here on my blog. I may not have as much time to do actual videos on YouTube but my blog will get updated a bit faster.

What have you all been lemming for this Holiday season? Please do share!

Anyway, I appreciate all your patience!

Thank you for subscribing and commenting on my blog!

Review: MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF50

Just wanted to do a quick review of one of my favorite products from MAC. I've never ventured past their powder products and into their "skincare" line. Honestly, I didn't even know this particular products exist!

When I went to my first MAC class last December, the makeup artists there used this product for demonstration. Since then I've been hooked! What is this used for? The MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50 is used to prime the skin prior to putting any makeup on. It is lightweight, very absorbent and sinks into the skin right away. I have very oily skin and this does wonders for keeping my face matte. You can apply your foundation right after putting this on. You don't need a whole lot- just enough to cover the much needed areas of your face. What else is great is that this product has not broken me out at all. I'm not all that fond of MAC's powder or foundation line as it has broken me out in the past. But this product is great! I highly recommend. It is pricey for a 30ML/1.0oz product- it retails for $30. With an added bonus of SPF 50, what you get for is worth the money in my opinion. I have since purchased a second of this and will continue to do so in the future. Depending on your use, the Face Protect should last you between one and a half to 2 months.

If you've tried this let me know what you think!

Review: bareMineral Prime Time Eyelid Primer

As promised, I will review one of my favorite eye primer. This one in particular is from bareMinerals. When this primer first debut a couple of years ago, I wasn't really into it. At the time, I was using Urban Decay's Primer Potion. Since bareMinerals is one of my favorite makeup brands, I decided to give this new product a try. It did not go well at first. First of all, I'm very picky with my eye primers. I have a really oily lid- not all things stick to it properly. A boutique associate applied this to my lid (I was at the store purchasing the Platinum Kit) before applying one of the shadows from the Platinum Kit. I swear it smudged on me- while I was there. I don't know if it's because it's been a long day and it was really warm in the store- but it smudged on me. Needless to say, I was not happy so I did not purchase

A year passed and I decided to give it another go. Though I was still using Urban Decay's Primer Potion, I wanted to give this primer a chance. I tried it for a week straight. Something must have gone right this time around because the shadow stayed on my eyes. It did not smudge, smear or slide off my lid. My eyelid was matte and kept the shadow in place.

I must say this time around I am very impressed! Since then, I've been a loyal fan. Besides the Urban Decay Primer Potion, this is the second primer that I finished till the very bottom. This primer retails for $16.

A quick description of the product: It pen-like shape. Uncap the top and twist from the bottom of the primer. The product will slowly make its way to the slightly angled doe foot applicator.
There are a few ways to apply this primer. You can apply directly from the primer to your lid. You don't need a whole lot of product to have your shadow stay in place. You can apply from the tube using your fingers and apply the primer to your lid. You can also use a brush (which is what I did) and apply the product to your lid with a brush. I used my bareMinerals concealer brush to do this.

To round up, this is a great product. It has excellent staying power and will keep your lids matte and your shadows in place.
I only found one downside to this product. As with most things. not all packaging is great. Yes, it's convenient that it's in a twist up type tube thing. The downside, when you get to the bottom, you can kind of see that there is a slight amount left in there. But, you can twist anymore to get the left over products out. So, that's boo:( I hope Bare Escentuals will improve this packaging in the future.

*Hint: There's a new eye primer out that came with the Rethink Beauty Kit...Different packaging:) Hopefully, this will apply even to the regular primer!

Otherwise, excellent primer from bareMinerals. I will definitely purchase again!

Let me know your thoughts in the comment below! I hope this review was helpful!

See you all in the next review!

Nail of the Day: Chanel's Particuliere

I was hunting down Chanel's nail lacquer in Particuliere for months now. It was part of the Summer 2010 collection. Apparently I missed out on it. Now that I finally got my hands on it, I am in love. This is my second Chanel nail polish (the first being Paradoxal from the Fall 2010 collection- which I'll post pics and do a review on). The pictures below doesn't do it justice. The color looks muddy is some shots but this is actually a very pretty color. It's grayish in tone and color with a slight hint of dark lavender- that is my personal observation. I thought it wouldn't be the kind of nail color I would like, but it is.

So, if you hadn't gotten a chance to grab this one, go to your nearest Chanel counter. I kindly asked one of the sales associates at my counter to let me know if this color comes in. Luckily, it was back in stock soon after.

Let me know what you think of this color...Love? Hate? Eh?

Happy Nail Shopping!
