Review: Buxom Stay-There Eyeshadow: Cocker Spaniel

Introducing a brand new shadow line from Bare Escentuals Buxom line. These are called Buxom Stay-There shadows. The eye shadows are cutely named after our furry friends. There are currently 14 Stay-There shadows available for purchase (and more to come I hope). Some are now being included in kits with new colors which I do a separate review on soon! Part of the Buxom line is exclusively sold at Sephora (with the exception of the regular and Full color glosses). These pups come in at 0.12 oz/3.5g and retails for $17 US.

The concept behind these shadows is that they are long-wearing and are water-proof. These shadows remind me a bit of a mousse-like texture, yet they are not quite like that. The shadows can be used as base under regular eye shadows. They first apply sheer but can be buildable to the intensity you want.

As far as application, I have used my fingers to apply the color on my lid. I have also used the brush specifically made for these shadows.

The color I'm going to review for you is called Cocker Spaniel. It is a gorgeous shade of champagne pink. It is great for use as an all-over lid color, inner corner highlight and as an eyebrow highlight.

The only downside to these shadows, at least from my experience, is that the product - the shadow itself, pops out from the packaging. This particular shadow didn't but I have another one (will review soon) that literally popped out of the packaging. So, I suggest to be very gentle with these and not shake them upside down otherwise the product will go to waste.

Overall, I love these shadows- especially Cocker Spaniel. I only have 4 so far but will collect more of these pups soon. As mentioned, there are Buxom pups in upcoming kits and I will review those as soon as I try them.

Hope you give these pups a home in your makeup drawer!

Let me know if you've tried these or have tried anything from the Buxom line.

xoxo,
Lynn

Review: Lush BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask

Lush's BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask is one of my favorite face mask. I have quite a few favorites from Lush. All of which I've tried and will do a separate review for each. First I will start with BB Seaweed.

BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask is perfect for all skin tones. I have very oily skin and this mask works great for me. It's leaves my face feeling smooth and soft. According to the Lush UK website, it is described as a "mineral-rich mask to cleanse, soften and beautify all skins". The masks' key ingredients include: kaolin, antiseptic honey, aloe vera and rose absolute. What's great about the face mask Lush makes is that the ingredients are listed right there on the packaging.

More about this mask....Other than it being great for all skin types, it also smells great. It does definitely have that antiseptic but not too medicine..y type smell. If you can tolerate the scent, it will work wonders on your skin. You will also find specks of seaweed mixed in the mask. Sometimes when I pick up too much, I just removed the excess seaweed that seems to get attached to my finger. Since this is a fresh mask, it needs to be refrigerated right when you get home. Fresh Face mask are not shipped to consumers since they are made of Fresh Ingredients- they will go bad. The mask are made on a weekly batch. In my experience, most stores sell their freshest newest masks on Thursdays. All Fresh Face Mask have an expiration date. The masks are good for 3 weeks with 2-3 days of use per week. I admit I get lazy sometimes and forget.
I still use mine at least one week past its due date but not more than that. I figure since it's refrigerated then it is okay.

BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask retails for $5.95 US. You can visit your nearest Lush to purchase in-store.

My mask expires today, May 23rd. Most likely I will use up by Friday. And then I will purchase the next one and I will do a review on it.

I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you have tried any Lush's face masks.

xo,
Lynn

must be kept refrigerated due to its fresh ingredients

You can see bits of seaweed on this one

Yes, it does expire so use by the date indicated

looks like whipped seaweed cream cheese doesn't it? lol

Birchbox # 1 - April 2011

I received my first Birchbox in April. I was debating for a long time whether or not to sign up for Birchbox since I've heard of some of the brands listed on their webpage. But I haven't tried them all so I thought, why not?

Below are some pictures of the goodies I received in April. If you don't know what Birchbox is, here's the description:

What it is: Birchbox is a monthly subcription, similar to how magazines work, where you pay either a monthly fee of $10 or pay for the whole year for $110 (I believe that's right). Each month, based on your Beauty Profile, you will receive 4-5 beauty samples to try. You'll get anything from beauty, skincare, makeup or beauty tools from well-known brands as well as up and coming ones.

What's also neat is that you earn points, by referring Birchbox to your friends or filling out a product survey. You can also purchase the full size products of your samples from their shop which will earn you points that you can use towards products.

I would have done a video on this but I have been so busy that I wasn't able to. Instead, see pictures of the items I received in my box. The only product I've tried so far is the nail polish- which I already in full size.
Pretty Packaging
I already have this Zoya polish Jules in full size (mini one is cute)

I will do a video and blog post of Birchbox # 2. I'm loving one product from this month so far.

Thanks for stopping by!
