NOTD: Waity Katie No More

In honor of the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, I thought it appropriate to wear this particular polish. It is from butter London and the shade is called: No More Waity, Katie...And yes, Miss Kate is waity Katie no more....She is now the future Queen of England. Yes, I was one of those that was actually awake to watch the wedding.

Enough about weddings and back to nail polish. No More Waity, Katie is a nice lavender/purple shade with tons of fine glitter. I wore an Essie nail polish called BBF Best Boyfriend underneath to help set the glitter of the polish. I used about 2 to 3 coats. I then topped it off with Seche Vite top coat. It gave my nails and the nail polish a nice shine. Overall, I love this nail color. I've never been crazy with glitter nail polish but I found a way around it.

I purchased this nail polish here butterlondon and it retails for $14 US. You can now purchase this at your local Ulta as well.

Wedding Trial Makeup EOTD

Hey All,
Today was a very fun and productive day. My BFF of 25 years is getting married in 52 days- yes, that exact. I'm very excited. I've been waiting for this day to come since we were little. And now it's here. Of course, I am a Maid of Honor. I'm honored to be beside her on one of the most important day of her life.

If you've ever been in a wedding, you know that the fun and exciting activities are just around the corner before the big day. One of which is the upcoming Bridal Shower. Next up: Bachelorette Spa Day, Wedding Rehearsal, and then the Wedding.

Every bride knows that on your wedding day you want to feel and look extra special. So, one upgrades their usual look (makeup, hair) on their big day. And it's not just for the brides, but their bridesmaids too.

Today my BFF made a appointment at our favorite makeup and beauty brand: Bare Escentuals. We are having them do our makeup for the wedding. I wanted a more natural, smoky look. My dress for the wedding a Royal Chiffon Blue- very pretty! I'll try to post pictures of my dress once I get it back from being altered.

Anyway, on to today. We both came in Bare Escentuals to do a trial run on the makeup we're going to wear to the wedding. Unlike my BFF, I usually were a decent amount of makeup everyday. Her look was more on the natural but defined side. I went for a subtle smoky look.
At the end of the hour, we look totally gorgeous:) Even though I wear a lot of makeup, the eye look tends to be more on the neutral side of smoky. It took a while to get used to the dark color on my lids and crease- I had to blend a bit more just to get the color to soften a bit.

However, I LOVE LOVE my face and eye makeup. The 2 makeup artists that helped us were awesome. They really achieve the look we were looking for.

Here's the 411 if you would like to come in to a boutique for makeup on you big day:
In case you didn't know, Bare Escentuals does bridal makeup. You need to make an appointment as early as you can if this is a trial run. The MUA will ask you basic questions, such as: skin type, skincare regimen, how you like your makeup (neutral or heavy), and whether or not you've used their products. It helps them become familiar with your preference. What is also helpful during your trial run is to express what kind of look you are looking for. Having an idea is better than going in there blind. Bring in a photo of a look that you saw in a magazine and let your MUA know your likes/dislikes/concern. Don't be afraid to ask questions. More importantly, don't be intimidated by MUA's. I mean they want you to book them and use their products but they shouldn't be shoving that in your face. Even more important, whether you're going with a group of friends or family, have a GREAT time!!!! One more important advice: be flexible and keep an open mind. Have fun with this:)

I have pictures below. I hope you enjoy. I will try to re-create this look later on since I don't have any of the makeup used on me today.

xoxo, Lynn
Such a gorgeous eye look.

Hair of the Day: Making Waves

Beauty Confession: as a beauty blogger, I have to admit that I, rarely do anything special to my hair- in other words, as long as I gets all the tangles out and it's combed, I consider it fixed. Hair routine= non-existent. I know...shame....shame....

On the rare occasion that I actually give a hoot about my hair, I usually have it curled. Believe it or not, I have really nice layers that frames my face and surrounds my head at the back. Since I usually have my hair in a bun, it's hard to tell.

One morning I just felt inspired and below is a picture of what I came up with. I have been watching a lot of hair tutorials from one of my favorite beauty gurus on YouTube: carahamelie03. She did a tutorial on wavy or curling your hair. I followed her method of curling your hair forward and then backward every other strand. The curls blended so well together and didn't come out like tight ringlets which I hate.

Anyway, wore it to work and got compliments on it...Something about me having a date after work.....um, no! LOL I get I should fix my hair more often.

Till next time (or whenever I get inspired to try a new hair trend),

bareMinerals Goodies!

I finally received my bare Minerals order! A couple of weeks ago BE's website had a big sale on some of their items and I had to partake. Most of the good stuff was sold out but I managed to end up with a few great things.

Just got these last night so I haven't had a chance to play with them yet. All in all, I bought 3things: Mini Buxom gloss in Winter Escapade (came out I think a christmas or 2 ago), Prime Time Brightening eyelid Primer in Brightening Pearl (pearlescent sheen), Graphite eyeshadow (a deep gray), and best of all, the new Face Fashion Kit in Pure Happiness. I have been waiting to buy the Pure Happiness Kit in a long time since seeing it at Macy's 2 months ago. Anyway, I will definitely review the Kit, Graphite eyeshadow and Brightening Pearl primer. The Buxom I may give to relatives so I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to review that one.

I'm excited for my goodies! Can't wait to play with them!

Have you tried Bare Minerals/Bare Escentuals products before? Makeup, Skincare???

*Which reminds me, gotta review their new Skincare line. Using a new cleanser I'm loving!*

Share your thoughts in the comments if you've used any of bareMinerals/Bare Escentuals products before and currently....

Finally! Clean Brushes!

There's nothing that sucks more than dirty makeup brushes. The ones I use daily seriously needed some washing. After being lazy for a couple of weeks now, I have finally gotten around to washing my brushes. Thank God! I'm sure my brushes are singing those exact phrase right now (if they could talk....or sing...)

Notice on the far right hand of the below are 3 brushes I have been debating on getting. And they are the SigmaxHD brushes. A lot of reviews were made about these brushes on YouTube and I held out buying for a long while...but, caved! The instructions were to wash them first before use, hence, the washing- the major washing done tonight. I won't make any promises, but I will never neglect washing my brushes again and waiting so long to do it! (Yikes! 2 weeks!) That's a major brush sin...waiting 2 long weeks. Ideally, brushes should be washed every week. With a busy schedule, I was not up to washing....

Anyway, I'm happy that I finally have a clean of brushes ready to use!

Thanks all!

Lynn

Nail of the Day: Katy Perry for OPI in Teenage Dream

Been wanting to review the Katy Perry OPI collection. The collection was so popular and so sought after that it started selling out in certain websites. I know I only wanted 2 of the 4 colors in this collection in the full size but it was sold out. And beauty stores weren't selling any until the end of January. I ended up buying a mini set of 4 of Teenage Dream, Not Like the Movies, Last Friday Night and The One that Got Away. You can purchase the mini collection set here.

Even though I bought the mini set, I still wanted 2 full size of Teenage Dream and The One that Got Away. Below I will be featuring Teenage Dream.

Normally, I don't like glitter nail polish. They are such a hassle and a pain to remove. But I've learned a trick to make the process of removing glitter polish easy. Right before applying the glitter polish, layer a base coat on bare nails, followed by a nail shade on the sheer side and then apply the glitter polish.

I am actually surprised that I liked this shade. The texture is not too gritty for a glitter polish. I used 3-4 coats because I really like to lay on the color. I then topped it off with my favorite top coat Seche Vite. The polish itself has both fine and medium chunks of glitter. It is a perfect pink, lavender and silver glitter combo.

Give it a try if you can still find it! It's very pretty and very girly. Perfect for the coming Spring/Summer.

Lynn
